I haven’t talked about politics much on this website and by that I mean, “I’ve avoided political commentary on this website like the plague.” There are reasons for that. I’m more afraid of political discussion with strangers than my cat is afraid of the vacuum cleaner. But there are other reasons, the primary one being that I’m well aware of how heated political arguments can become, especially on the Internet, which tends to house a lot of uneducated but highly opinionated assholes that have no idea what the fuck they are talking about. To clarify, I’m not talking about my dear readers; it’s just that opinionated Internet assholes tend to come out of the woodwork during any even remotely controversial topic. Topics like the size of my nose.
But I can’t take this anymore. I can’t keep quiet any longer. I was in a good mood when I came to work this morning, a great mood, actually. I was prepared to revel in the story of the great evening I had. One of the best evenings I’ve had in quite a while. But now? Now I’m pissed. I’ve never once argued that the Obama/Biden ticket is the be all and end all of amazing political discourse; I’ve never once claimed that Obama will entirely save us, but I sure as hell think he’ll be a much better president than the one we have now and I can say with 100% certainty that at least his campaign doesn’t scare the living shit out of me like McCain/Palin does. And I don’t have to explain that comment, I don’t have to offer reasons why I’m voting for Obama, I don’t. And I’m not going to. This website has never been intended as a forum for me to regale the Internet with my beliefs and principals, because frankly, Internet, I don’t give a rat’s ass what your opinions about my principals are.
What I do care about, and I can’t believe I’m even asking for something so utterly ridiculous, is to know what the HELL people voting for McCain/Palin are thinking. I’m sure I will regret asking the Internet for thoughts on this; I’m sure I’ll be even more frightened after hearing what McCain/Palin voters have to say. People do realize that the role of the Vice President is to serve as the top adviser to the President, right? America, you do understand that the VP takes the place of the President in the event of his death right? And you DO understand that if you elect McCain/Palin that means SHE becomes Vice President, right? RIGHT? HOW CAN YOU LISTEN TO THIS WOMEN AND HONESTLY THINK VOTING FOR THIS ADMINISTRATION IS A GOOD IDEA?
It’s a fucking outrage. It’s downright insulting. Where the FUCK did this ridiculous women come from?! And don’t say Alaska, because I fucking know that. But how can this country listen to this woman speak and still think that voting for her is a good idea? I used to like McCain. I used to respect McCain. Not anymore. This country is not stupid. Voters are not idiots. Not anymore. After the last four years we have had under the Bush Administration I honestly don’t think America will stand for another four years of these ridiculous lies, bullshit and downright insanity that we’re currently trying to dig ourselves out of. This shitstorm we’ve created for ourselves? We’re smarter than this, America. And frankly, I’m insulted that McCain/Palin even so much as thinks that our nation is that fucking stupid. The woman IS. A. MORON.
So please, Internet, make me understand. Make me understand why. I don’t want any “It’s not Obama” type comments. I don’t want any Obama/Biden bashing. I don’t want any generalities. I want goddamn solid reasons, principles, and actual REAL LIFE EXAMPLES of how and why McCain/Palin is a good idea. And let me just say, do not bother commenting unless you can provide that for me. I’m fucking pissed. Come on, America, we’re not that fucking retarded that we’re going to stand for something like this. Wake up.
i can’t tell how frustrating it was for me to try to defend those ridiculous internet rumors that my 60+ parents actually believe.
so amen.
but i do have to tell you. i am totally going as Sarah Palin for Halloween. i have the accent down.
Oh boy, bad idea opening this can of worms.
it’s quite simple what the GOP base is thinking… nothing. republicans don’t want to think. they don’t want to answer hard questions about geopolitics and global economics. they want to be told everything’s cool. they’ll vote for two different bushes on fiscal responsibility and turn their backs while they loan us into oblivion. they’ll go gun-ho on a quick, simple war and call us quitters when we want out 8 years later…
you’re talking about retards. middle american retards. i was raised by one… sorry dad, love you. you’re talking about people who see intellectualism as a threat (liberal elites.) scared of the brightest minds in the world, scared of science.
you’re talking about people who do not use logic to think. they live their lives on a book of mysticism, written thousands of years ago and filtered through hundreds of translations. they sculpt their principles on direct statements from a book written in another language… translations are not perfect you fucking morons. even the first would have flaws, then translate that a hundred more times. ever heard of the game telephone?
so, a candidate that doesn’t have a clue what she’s talking about isn’t a bad thing. long as she will tell this base of retards that everything is alright. long as she doesn’t come off as an ‘elite’ she will be beloved by retards, and if you didn’t know this already, that’s most of this country.
Thank you for this post. It is utterly brilliant.
I think I would vote for Tiny Fey pretending to be Palin before I voted for the real thing!
“Opinionated Internet Assholes” do come out of the woodwork especially when Christianity is involved….and then they bash everyone who doesn’t believe what they believe …just like good little Christians.
I too tend to stay away from political discussions …mostly because I abhor our government all together 🙂 However, I am for Obama.
BRILLIANT. I am dying to know this as well, ntohing has angered me more than Sarah. Fing. PALIN.
Yeah, sorry I cannot shed any light on this either. Do not want.
PS – that post about your nose was hilario! My nose isn’t big, but it has this bump in the middle and I used to hate it because it looks exactly like my dad’s nose, but I grew to love it for exactly the same reason.
AMEN, sista!!!! Just came across your blog and am so glad I did!!
I come from a family of staunch conservatives… I’ve always been the black sheep and I’ve always tried to figure out what makes them tick… I don’t really get it. But as far as I can figure, for them, anyway, voting Republican is about bringing us back to where we used to be as a country (as in, before the Civil Rights Movement)… back to a time when there was prayer in schools, when abortion was done in secret, when gay people stayed in the closet where they belong… you know, back to the good old days… back to the days before the ‘bleeding-heart liberals’ took over and completely ruined our great nation. Sarah Palin represents the most conservative of the conservatives. They seem to be completely overlooking her lack of education and morals, which is beyond me but seems quite reasonable to them. And because McCain doesn’t suit them perfectly, she is the ticket’s saving grace (God help us all). Like you, I used to respect McCain… I remember about a dozen years ago, telling my dad I would consider voting for him if he ever ran for President. Obviously, THAT no longer stands. I wish I could make it make sense… to you AND me. But I don’t get any of it anymore. And I’m scared of what’s to come.
I watched the debate with a die-hard conservative who believes Palin is brilliant and depression isn’t real (“people just need to be more optimistic!”).
Partisan allegiance aside, I need to know how people still have confidence in this bumbling idiot to lead a country! Wait, let me guess. They think the evil liberal media is just attacking her and that she’s actually competent, despite all evidence to the contrary.
If it walks like a bumbling idiot and talks like a bumbling idiot…
Weird… ten responses so far and not a single person to defend her?
P.S. How can someone claim do be feminist and say that she would be against the abortion of a teenager girl who was raped by her father? And being against the morning after pill? That helps PREVENT abortions! The woman’s an idiot and she’s setting women’s rights back decades with her profane close-mindedness.
omg…have you seen this?!?!?!?

I WOULD vote for Tina Fey as VP doing an impression of Sarah Palin. However, since that is not the actual ticket, I am deathly afraid, as a reporter, of voting for someone who couldn’t name a single newspaper or magazine she reads to keep on top of current affairs. Not one.
you know i agree with you… i have no fucking idea why anyone would vote for that ticket. i am disgusted that mccain even chose her & i believe that choice is gonna come back and bite him in the ass.
Well everyone that reads my blog knows how I feel but I think that republicans tend to vote for beliefs. Meaning, they believe in the republican mantra; less taxes, smaller government, free market, no welfare, and anything you can glean from the bible.
They aren’t voting for the person they are voting for what that person represents. Palin represents an ultra conservative religious nutjob. She just also happens to be stupid.
I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago about how republicans vote in their self interest. They are typically middle to upper class who don’t need the government for much. Since McCain offers less government, well, that’s good for them. They aren’t thinking based their front door.
Just my opinion.
Idealcrap
Finally! A voice of reason!! I’m sorry I can’t comply with your request and give you good reasons why I’m voting for McCain b/c I’m not. Will any republicans please stand up?
Not only will Palin, as VP, be in the *position* to run the country if the pres dies, but McCain’s ancient! It’s not a stretch to think he could keel over. Scares the crap outta me too!
oh and ps.
I LOVED this:
This website has never been intended as a forum for me to regale the Internet with my beliefs and principals, because frankly, Internet, I don’t give a rat’s ass what your opinions about my principals are.
My favorite quote of all-time is:
Be who you are and say what you feel
because those who matter don’t mind
and those who mind don’t matter.
~Dr. Seuss
Sarah Palin = Red herring.
i dont have an answer. but i live in republican country. if you’re not a die hard, you’re not going to heaven. i ask myself every day how someone like this woman could consider herself compassionate and worldly woman. its embarrassing as an american that she gets the face time she does.
A very good question. Over here in Europe a lot of us are wondering the same thing. Mc Cain is actually kind of liberal for a Republican – he is moderate… but teamed up with Palin – well, she is the EXTREME Republican. Comes over as being far too inexperienced for the job as well as too inflexible. The thought of her being President or even VP is just too scary!
HUUMM!! EVERYBODY has and opinion right? And ALL I saw in the You Tube Video was Palin was for Pro Life!! NOT!! And the Religious part can’t say because EVERYBODY believe’s in something or NOTHING, and we are NOTHING!! And I say let’s ALL fight about it at the Voter’s Poll in November… Go to our blogger and read up on some of Obama’s shit… And YOU do NOT have to believe in God or go to Church to have Morals!! duh!! EVERYBODY has to calm down over this issue.. And yea, you did open up a can of worm’s.. OOOHH MMYYY!! til l8er
Wavemaker, it helps to type in complete sentences if you are trying to get a point across.
transferrence: You might have to learn how too use the Internet language first… LOL til l8er
Knock it off. The purpose of this post is not to insult my friends.
OOHHH!! I’m scared!!! I think transferrence need’s to quit picking on ppl and grow up and stay on the subject.. NOT til l8er
I was merely trying to understand the point you wanted to make. How is that off topic or offensive? I’d like to understand.
Let’s just drop the WHOLE darn subject!! I lost a GREAT blogger pocket because of this.. The point was just everybody fight at the poll’s NOT at each other. And I did not see anything wrong with Palin’s You tube Speech except for the darn Media and oh yes, Palin is for Pro Life!! And I just said I’m NOT for Pro Life.. That is all.. end of subject.. And we have to quit talking like this cause it’s going to piss off pocket more!! Not til l8er
So basically you took issue with a reporter trying to get an actual answer out of Palin for once? Is that what you mean by the “darn media”? Wow. No wonder you didn’t understand that transferrence was simply pointing out that you suck at getting your point across. The excessive caps don’t help, BTW….
OMGEEZ!! By ALL!!!
I have no intention of voting for Mccain and I cannot stand Palin! The hubby has plans to vote this way though. According to the hubby, Obama is very against nuclear energy. This is the industry that the hubby works in. So, he feels that it would be very bad for his career if Obama is in office. For me, I either vote for Obama and not have the family’s best interests in mind or I don’t vote at all because I cannot support McCain. What’s a girl to do…
